“Kindness, a universal language. Speak only words that help the souls bloom.” Why a Rose? I love the smooth texture (and the great number) of their petals. Words of kindness have the same soft effect on our souls – and we should be generous and shower our fellow humans with them! This artwork is also inspired by a Slavic folk tale, “Tears of pearls”. A poor baby girl is blessed with weird fairy gifts. Whenever she would smile, a beautiful rose would drop out of nowhere right next to her. Whenever she would cry, her tears would be transformed into precious pearls. Her mother never told her and chose to raise her in a way that she would always smile and never ever shed a tear. True love and caring, this concept always felt so heartwarming – therefore this is also a tribute to that amazing story. In Greek mythology, the Nereids (Νηρηίδες) were friendly sea nymphs who helped sailors. Leiagore (Λειαγόρη) means smooth speaker.
